Mana Ake Anxiety Workshop
Mana Ake Anxiety Workshop
This example shows evidence of a next step in practice in order to achieve improved student outcomes.
This example clearly shows improved student outcomes through accessing a range of resources that can support student wellbeing. Through these resources I can strengthen my pastoral care programme which will ultimately lead to better outcomes for students socially and academically.
Key resources:
- Dan Siegel Brain Model
- M3 Mindfulness programme
- Take action programme
Leading Lights
This is the fantastic Mana Ake online resource. It is sponsored by the MOE, The Ministry Of Health, CDHB and Canterbury Clinical Network.
Leading Lights provides guidance pathways to help teachers and other school staff in Canterbury recognise and respond to the needs of individual children in Years 1 to 8 in the following key areas: Behaviour, Health, Learning, Safety, Wellbeing and Belonging.
The pathways include clear, concise, locally-agreed information on interventions and strategies to use at school, as well as when to seek further support, who can provide it, and how to make requests.

Sparklers
Sparklers is a free wellbeing toolkit (from the 'all right?' campaign) full of fun and simple activities to help children learn about their own mental health and wellbeing.
'Sparklers' actively teaches students how to manage big emotions, draw upon their strengths, connect with others and be ready for learning.
Wellbeing at school
The Wellbeing at School tool can be accessed free by schools. It is provided by the New Zealand Council for Educational Research
There are two surveys, similar to our Student-Led Learning Walks and data gathering and community consultation that Lyn has guided us through, but you may be interested.
