Spiral of Inquiry - Scanning Stage

I have almost completed my scanning, just one parent conversation to go.
Here are my findings so far:

I found this scanning process really beneficial as it's not often we get to chat to our kids and parents one on one. Some of the answers didn't surprise me and some did! It was interesting to see those children who are able to really reflect on their thinking and answers and those who give the answer they think you want.
Thoughts/findings:
Children think maths is numeracy only. No-one commented on strand aspect of maths. Do we use enough language in maths? Jayden particularly struggled to explain his thoughts and likes/dislikes. Is this a lack of vocab being shared in maths?
As a result of this process I have included a mini 'scan' as part of our Snapshot testing. The questions I will be asking are:
Do you like maths?
What do you find easy/hard in maths?
What would you like to learn in maths this year?
I have decided to stay away from the wellbeing questions as I feel they need to be unpacked carefully and time wouldn't allow for this. I'm hoping these questions will give me an insight into how my mathematicians are feeling about maths.
