Learning Celebration
This afternoon Room 25 hosted a learning celebration to celebrate all our hard work in our inquiry topic. I decided to have a celebration as the children have worked really hard this term and achieved a huge amount. This was a great opportunity to invite our Whanau and other staff members into the classroom to celebrate along with us. The celebration was a fantastic success with a great turn out from parents, grandparents and siblings. The children really enjoyed the opportunity to share with their families as well as other teachers that they might nit otherwise get to share with. This experience really highlighted for me the strength of relationships in and out of the classroom. To see my students brimming with pride and knowledge about their chosen country was a really empowering experience for them. The feedback I got from parents was extremely positive with several thanking me for giving them the opportunity to come in to the classroom and share work. The students had obviously talked a lot about the celebration at home as there was a great turn out of parents. I would like to do more events like this in the future, perhaps at the end of each term, to give the students and their families and chance to celebrate and share together. In the future I would possibly look and making in a general sharing time as I found several of the students were keen to share other work with their families as well as their inquiry. I strongly encouraged this and it was great to see the children clearly explaining what they had learnt to their families and seeing their mana being boosted.
Fantastic day in Room 25!
