4 minute walk through

I participated in my first 4MWT recently and found it an interesting and useful experience. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to focus on in this walkthrough so decided to take it as an opportunity to see other areas of the school I have not had interaction with yet. Something that really stood out from my walkthrough was the continuity present across the school. This made me think about what I do in my classroom in regards to the school-wide initiatives (pathway, WALTs, learning progressions etc). I feel there are some aspects of this I do well such as having the pathway displayed prominently in my classroom and some aspects I could definitely improve. In the senior classrooms I saw the literacy learning progressions broken up in to overall snapshots of each level. Currently I have the large poster of the literacy learning progressions however feel this can be a bit overwhelming for students. I would like to find or develop something more succinct to display for my students to refer to.
Another area I looked at during my walkthrough was the use of space in classrooms across the school. I would like to move to a more flexible, modern learning environment in my classroom so was on the look out for ideas from other classrooms. Something I know a few people have been struggling with is the storage of resources and children’s’ materials without desks. I saw some very creative ways of storing belongings in various classrooms I looked at and would like to use a combination of these ideas when I begin to implement changes in my classroom.
